SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE) – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world’s leading organization dedicated to defining standards, certifications and best practices to ensure a secure cloud computing environment, today announced that Chris Krebs, former director of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) will be the keynote speaker at SECtember global, the first global event dedicated to the intersection of cloud and cybersecurity. This year’s event will take place from September 13th to 17th at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington. In a fireside chat on Sept. 16, Krebs will share with attendees his view on global cybersecurity threats, the White House Cybersecurity Ordinance, and supply chain security and the future of public-private partnerships for cybersecurity.
SECtember is a premier event bringing together thought leaders from five continents to provide a global perspective on strategic cloud and cybersecurity issues and provide cutting-edge educational activities, including the opportunity to expand cloud security knowledge through expanded training offerings. The annual event attracts an international audience of cloud and cybersecurity professionals from all stages of their careers. Chris Krebs is a founding partner of the Krebs Stamos Group and was the first director of the federal agency for cybersecurity and infrastructure security. While there, he oversaw CISA’s efforts to manage risk to businesses and government agencies in the country, and brought partners together to work together to defend against cyber and physical threats. During his tenure, he pioneered the rumor control program, which was developed to combat disinformation campaigns, and led the indictment to ensure and defend the integrity of the 2020 presidential election by leading breakthrough measures to promote collaboration between federal, state and local governments and the private sector implemented. Prior to serving as Director of CISA, he held various roles at DHS, where he was responsible for a range of cybersecurity, critical infrastructure and national resilience issues. Prior to DHS, he led US cybersecurity policy for Microsoft, advising industrial and government clients on complex cybersecurity and business risk matters. He has also served in the George W. Bush administration, advising DHS leadership on national and international risk management and public-private partnership initiatives.
The five-day in-person event includes CSA’s first CxO Trust Summit on Tuesday, September 14th. Offered exclusively to members of the C-Suite in support of the CxO Trust Initiative, this free event brings together CISOs and other C-level stakeholders for an important conversation about the successful development of cloud infrastructures and other related services.
