The University of Notre Dame will have a new partner to manage its bookstores as Barnes & Noble College (BNC), a Barnes & Noble Education company, will supply course materials, retail and online Operation takes over.
The new partnership will give Notre Dame faculties and academic leaders access to BNC’s Adoption and Insights portal, which will allow them to easily research and select inexpensive course materials.
As part of the new management, BNC will provide an enhanced in-person and online shopping experience, partly due to its recent joint venture with online and offline licensed sporting goods manufacturers Fanatics and Lids.
“We are excited to be working with industry leaders Barnes & Noble College, Fanatics and Lids to improve the course materials process for faculty and students and create the premium college experience in store and online retail,” said Micki Kidder , Vice President of University Enterprises and Events for Notre Dame.
BNC operates more than 770 school-branded campus bookstores and e-commerce sites serving more than 6 million college students and faculties nationwide.

The university has five bookstores including the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore on campus, the Hammes Bookstore and CafĂ© on Eddy Street, the Leep Varsity Shop in the Purcell Pavilion, the Dellelce Irish Hockey Shop in the Compton Family Ice Arena, and the Notre Dame Outlet store at 1610 N. Ironwood Drive in South Bend. Notre Dame also has a catalog / online order fulfillment center. BNC will replace Follett, who has managed the university’s course materials, retail and online bookstore since 1997.
