Edmonds College will host an on-campus opening ceremony on Friday, June 18, from 2pm to 5pm. Faculty and staff will cheer on the graduates as they drive or walk through the celebration route. Strict COVID-19 security guidelines are adhered to and the number of participants is limited.

The college will also be posting a video of the opening ceremony, which will be available starting June 18 at noon at edmonds.edu/commencement.

“I am impressed with the persistence shown by each and every one of our graduates,” said Dr. Amit Singh, President of Edmonds College. “In the most difficult times they did not deviate from their goals. I am confident that they will be successful if they continue their education or enter professional life. “

This year’s start-up speaker is Steve Sebuka. He was a doctor in the Congo before coming to the US in 2018 and started teaching English at EC. He then earned five health certificates that enabled him to secure a job as a monitor technician at EvergreenHealth. Sebuka’s ultimate goal is to become a public health doctor.

“Everything is possible in life; it’s just a matter of will, ”said Sebuka. “Yes, we are in the middle of a pandemic, but let this challenge be a source of motivation rather than an excuse to give up.”
